Goodnight Tuesday

Goodnight Tuesday.

The apartment gets quiet in a particular way at the end of the day, as if the rooms are finally done pretending to be busy. A single lamp holds its place on the side table, throwing a soft amber cone across the wall and the corners we usually ignore. The shade glows like fabric warmed from the inside, and for a moment the light feels less like illumination and more like company.

On the table, small objects settle into their roles: a dish, a framed photo, a plant leaning toward the heat. Nothing dramatic happens, but the ordinary starts to feel layered. You can almost hear the home living—small shifts, a hush in the air, the day closing its door without a sound.

Staying in makes you notice how a space remembers you. The lamp becomes a marker for time, a gentle cue that it’s okay to stop scrolling, stop planning, stop trying to outrun tomorrow. There’s comfort in that warm pool of light, in the way it softens the edges of everything it touches.

Tonight the world can wait outside the walls. Here, it’s just a calm corner of an apartment and the simple ritual of turning down the day.

Goodnight.

This room just has light

There’s a certain kind of quiet that only shows up when light does the talking. The front room of my apartment has always been like that—patient, observant, never demanding attention, yet impossible to ignore once you notice it.

The light comes in gently, filtered through old curtains and city air, landing on plants, books, and unfinished thoughts. It doesn’t rush. It lingers. It makes the ordinary feel intentional.

Sloan Sofa by Interior Define

sloan product shot

I have been a very ambitious online shopper recently. Including a sofa from Interior Define, I have also purchased a mattress and bed frame from Gilt. The process for selecting my sofa was very easy and because I am a web dork a bit fun. I selected my sloan with Oxford Blue Mod Velvet and Brass Tapered Round Legs. I decided on Interior Define after looking at normal retailers and having to sacrifice design over price or materials. With Interior Define I was able to make the sofa to my specifications in the style I was looking for.

Purchase to Delivery

The wait was a bit longer but seeing as the sofa is made to order I could wait for the 8-10 weeks turnaround time. The status updates via e-mail also made the wait more bearable. The transparency really helped me keep track of my order and remember at what steep in the process my sofa was in.

Delivery & Install

Free shipping included in the purchase price is the last incentive that sold me on Interior Define Sloan Sofa. The sofa was airmailed to me and had “white glove” delivery to my front door, on my schedule, with an advanced call in preparation for delivery. The two gentleman who carried my sofa up one flight of stairs, unpacked, and assembled it were very professional and quick.

Final Thoughts

All said and done I am happy with my purchase and love the sofa! The quality is perfect for the price, the material and style is everything I wanted, and the expectations set with the service were right on point.

Happy Friday Everyone!

There’s a particular quiet that settles in on a day off—like the apartment is holding its breath for a second before the city starts nudging at the windows. I caught it in the simplest way: a quick selfie, bare shoulders, soft light, and that half-smile you wear when you’re not performing for anyone.

Behind me, the ordinary details do what they always do: a small table, the edge of a bed, a hallway opening into the rest of the place. Nothing dramatic, nothing staged. Just the familiar geometry of home, the kind that becomes a backdrop to your weeks without you noticing.

I like that Fridays can feel like a threshold. One world is still humming—deadlines, commutes, the relentless tug of plans. Another world is waiting right beside it—slower, more private, made of coffee, errands taken at a human pace, and the rare luxury of doing nothing for a few minutes.

So here’s to the small pause. To the moment you look up and realize you’re already inside the weekend, even if only by an inch. Today doesn’t need much. It just needs to be lived.

Snowed in Saturday & Winter Wonderland Walk

| #blizzard #snow #lovely | ❄️??
| I wake to a quiet and snowy morning, grind some beans, and make myself coffee. Snow has clung to my summer window screens, making it appear that it has accumulated up to the first floor of the apartment building. After washing some dishes and taking a shower the rest of the building starts to stir. At the front of the building my landlord bickers with a kid from the block about the height of the snow and where best to measure it. They haphazardly plan the best approach to clear the length of sidewalk and barter the cost to shovel the snow.

$20 for a path, $45 to clear it all – it’s the same for every house

[image_frame url=”7388″ action=”open-lightbox” rel=”snow”]They spot a snow drift on the roof, its reaching off into the sidewalk, they compare it to Mount Everest or a Snow Sculpture of a bird. They worry if it will fall and hurt someone, admittedly it has me curious. I cannot decide if it is funny or sad, the futile effort or the lack of actual effort they have in shoveling snow so early. After a while it is quiet again, then a guitar slowly plays a rambling melody downstairs.[image_frame url=”7380″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”Snow on my bedroom window” rel=”snow”][image_frame url=”7379″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”Neighborhood Kid Shoveling” rel=”snow”]I decide to venture out and layer up to a snowy wonderland. The snow drift on the roof is microscopic compared to the rest of the neighborhood. The hilarity of it all, my building’s sidewalks are some of the best.

A man with a snow blower, cross-country skiing, sounds of tires spinning to nowhere; are a wintery mix of sound and white light. Like two ships in the night, my friend Mikey and I pass each other in the park , never knowing until we are both too far away to meet.[image_frame url=”7384″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”Snowy track of McCarren Park” rel=”snow”][image_frame url=”7386″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”McCarren Park Building 1″ rel=”snow”][image_frame url=”7387″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”McCarren Park Building 2″ rel=”snow”]I arrive home, snow crystalized over my M-65 field jacket and creating a cuff on the bottom of my jeans. As I walk into my apartment the snow quickly begins to melt and I can almost hear that small crackling of ice melting on my hat. It’s time for something warm, a cozy blanket and some brainless internet entertainment. The light is pale and blue in my living room, the wind is howling, and the city appears calm, if only for today.[image_frame url=”7395″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”m65 jacket snow melting” rel=”snow”][image_frame url=”7398″ action=”open-lightbox” image_caption=”the back yard snow” rel=”snow”]| Read Insta-comments -> http://bt.zamartz.com/1WDZzY7
