This is Richard Hayne, President and CEO of Urban Outfitters. He’s also a supporter of Rick Santorum and donated over $13,000 to him. He’s against gay marriage and abortion.

His company pulled a pro-gay shirt back in 08, they also blatantly ripped off an Etsy designers work, featured a t-shirt for women that said “eat less” and most recently had a card with a “tranny” slur on in.

Why do you shop at this store? I imagine because you weren’t aware of these facts. Now you are, so stop shopping there.

Well, he’s not a very nice person…

I think everybody should see this…

Glad I’ve seen this, goodbye Urban Outfitters.

Ive always found the store incredibly pretentious! Would rather support Etsy people!

just so you know

Yet another reason to not buy shitty clothes from shitty people.

Not cool

Laser “Unprinter” Saves Paper by Erasing Pages Without Damaging Them

A team at the University of Cambridge has developed a remarkable new technique that uses lasers to erase laser-printed paper, leaving pages clean, clear, undamaged, and ready to be reused. The technology has the potential to be even more eco-friendly than traditional paper recycling – scenarios suggest that it would produce at most “half the carbon emissions of recycling; best-case, unprinting is almost 20 times as efficient,” reports ExtremeTech.

Ernesto Caivano: In the Woods | MoMA-PS1

2004

For MoMA PS1’s stairwell A, Ernesto Caivano created a wall mural based on an ongoing story he developed over three years called After the Woods. While After the Woods consists of drawings and paper sculptures, In the Woods is composed of black latex paint and gouache to create a dense visual web of images composing Caivano’s larger-than-life sized environment. The exaggerated scale of the piece creates a total experience for the viewer, allowing an escape into this imaginary world. Naked and gnarled tree branches wind around the walls and sprout up and out onto the ceiling, entangling the viewer in their dark and magical embrace.

Ernesto Caivano’s In the Woods is located in Stairwell A.

Trip to MoMA – PS1

So living in NYC gives you loads of opportunities to experience the arts. However, I am ofter too exhausted or busy to take advantage all that is available. This weekend my friend Emily & I had a nice brunch and visited MOMA – PS1. See our favorite exhibit above and read about it above.

Surasi Kusolwong

On view November 20, 2011—April 2, 2012

Surasi Kusolwong (Thai, b. 1965) makes installations and performances that reference consumer society and the economy. Through his participatory and interactive works the Bangkok-based artist encourages social interaction over economic exchange. His large-scale installation Golden Ghost (The Future Belongs To Ghosts) (2011), which was first presented in the Creative Time exhibition Living as Form, invites visitors to enter into the vast field of industrial thread waste to search for gold necklaces hidden in the piles of cotton. Visitors who are fortunate enough to find a necklace are welcome to keep it. The work suggests a sense of play in which visitors can climb the mounds of thread waste, comb through the material and explore. While the literal treasure hunt in a field of excess serves as a metaphor for consumption at the global and individual level, it also inverts standard systems of exchange—the expensive gold necklaces are not sold nor bartered, but generously given away.

Ski Trip – PA 2012

So this weekend I learned how to ski. [ Hidden Valley Resort, PA] It was much easier then my earlier attempts at trying to learn how to snowboard. Overall it was a pretty good experience, checking one more activity off my list of to-dos. Plus we were actually able to ski on natural snow.
