DIY Japanese Shoji Wall for Small Spaces

My Temporary Shoji Wall

So here is the story – I had an extra room that was too small for a couch and table, but too big to be a closet or office. So I decided to put an Ikea futon in it and make it a secondary bed room.

However, the room only had 3 walls, therefore lacking some privacy. I decided to build a Japanese Shoji wall. The wall is connected to a shelf at the top, thus creating a wall that offers privacy but created no structural modifications to the room itself other the attachment of the shelf to the wall.

The solution allows light to still flow through the apartment and gives a little depth and warmth to the space. If the wall gets damaged or dirty you just replace the Shoji Paper like normal Shoji.

Budget was around $180 and took about 20 working hours to complete (creation and install).

My dad was kind enough to help me pull it off and here are the results!
(sorry for my iPhone4 Photo Quality). Personal Note :: I love this style wall!

Not All Stripes Are…

Not all Stripes are even, Not all Stripes are straight, Not all stripes are Horizontal – get into the mix and wear all your stripes!

Spring is a tricky time with fluctuation of weather and temperatures. Stick to the layered look a bit longer. Pullover or Cardigan with t-shirt or tank underneath.

Don’t forget your accessories and shoes! I’m totally into woven shoes and sandals at the moment!

The Versace Invite to SOHO

The Versace Invite to SOHO

Today I received a letter from @Versace inviting those in the neighborhood to visit the new Versace Runway shop in SOHO & receive a gift… every now and then you miss a store opening in NYC… or even walk by it the weekend before and still miss it… but given the change at redemption; take it!

What resulted was one of Donatella’s “favorite things” – Round hard candies with the Medusa head raised on them… and myself finding a new pair of woven loafers!

Sweet to say the leaset!

A little on the store: Opened in October 2012. Its the first boutique store for Versace in NYC and has hand-laid imported mosaic floor is modeled after Roman Basilicas built in 800 A.D.

Don’t Miss the Versace Shopping Bag .PNG! PUT IT EVERYWHERE!
